What's going on with The BookUmentary??

Hello my old and new supporters. I've been receiving a lot of emails inquiring the BookUmentary and what's going on with it. While my main website http://www.shennananette.com/ is currently under construction, I decided that my project [The BookUmentary] shouldn't be as well. I want it to be known that I did not become lazy and discouraged about this project. THE BOOKUMENTARY IS GOING THROUGH A REBIRTH. I've met many amazing women who were interested in the project and I appreciate the overwhelming responses. However, during the interview process, I've become uninspired by most and their lack of involvement in the LGBTQ community.

In this blog I will update you on my travel dates, FAQ, and up to date info on the progress of the BookUMentary.

The purpose of "The BookUmentary" is to expose the beauty, success, determination, and growth of Queer Woman of Color and their roles in the LGBTQ community versus media and negative stereotypes. Queer WOC have been misrepresented for years, especially via media where our existence is almost extinct.

From an outsider looking in, we only see the 'popular' surface. We only see the parties, lesbian drama, house balls, and prides. I was once asked, "Is that what being a lesbian is about?" Can one only be a successful Queer WOC if she is a popular club promoter, house mother, ball room legend, and etc? Where are the Queer WOC who involved in the progression of the LGBTQ community outside of the party and ballroom scene? This is not to discredit any club promoter and/or 'house' member as there are individuals in said groups involved in LGBTQ outreach programs.

Queer Women of Color are lawyers, doctors, educators, amongst other professions, involved in the LGBTQ community. Queer WOC are also LGBTQ youth counselors and mentors whose involvement goes unrecognized. These are the Women who inspire youth to dream bigger than the 'rainbow flag.'

I've handpicked a few I'd love to be a part of this project, however I have yet to be fully inspired to begin any full interviews. With that said, the search is on again for the best of the best Queer WOC to represent the LGBTQ the way it should be, not by images created by society and TV. I'm also looking for another assistant for this project. If interested email me at info@shennananette.com with 'Assistant' in the subject line. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY!!!!

Thanks for your support guys!!

As Always,
